Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and the benefits of community service. First of all Selmon was brought up with Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie, on an agricultural property near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. Two soccer. He is among the three brothers that were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. During his three years as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. Third scholarship he was named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's diploma from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week while he attended college. Then he settled in Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and played three times in the all-pro league. His business career began. The first job he had was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as an athlete, was captain of his team during the season of 1975. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
